The easiest way for me to explain it to you is that PayID is a unique piece of information about you that allows you to quickly send and receive payments with your own PayID. You can create your own PayID and use an email address, Australian Business Number (ABN), or mobile phone number as your unique ID. Once you have your PayID, you can then go about processing payments with ease. 

One of the things that I found interesting about PayID is that you cannot sign up directly for the service at the official website! This is because PayID has been integrated into over 100 banks that are recognised by the RBA, and you can only use your bank account to create your PayID.

I tried creating a PayID and found that it is a straightforward process. I will go into the details below and help you make your own. All the popular banks down under, including Comm Bank, ANZ and Westpac, have PayID. You don’t need to pay any additional fees to get your PayID, but you must have a bank account to create it. 

What are the benefits of using PayID?

The first thing I want to point out is that PayID has many benefits for individuals and businesses. I am going to focus only on the benefits you, as an individual client, have from using PayID.  

Here are the advantages you’ll have if you choose PayID for transactions instead of your regular bank account. 

Super-Fast Processing Times

One of the things that can be super annoying is when you must go through a lot of red tape with the banks to process your transfers. Many bank transfers can take up to 3 working days, especially if you are transferring a large amount or to a new beneficiary account. 

You can avoid all of this when you do your transfers with PayID. I’ve tried it out and found that processing times are super-fast, and transactions are done almost immediately.

Available 24/7

A big one for me is that banks don’t process payments on weekends, and you always end up waiting for Monday to come around. Sometimes, you get a bank holiday on Monday, which means you have to wait even longer to get some action going at the bank. 

You avoid all of this when you use PayID, as the platform works on a 24/7 basis. That means you can process transactions over the weekend and even during holidays. In other words, PayID will still work for you – you can’t beat that now, can you?

Transfer Description

It’s frustrating when you get a notification on your mobile banking app stating that money is either credited or debited to your account. The transfer description is limited to 18 chars (sometimes 16 chars), and you often have no idea who has debited funds or who has made a credit. I know that this isn’t just an issue for me, as it drives a lot of my mates mad. 

You will not have this issue when you use PayID as the transfer description is excellent and you can use up to 280 chars for a description. To make things even cooler, you can use emojis within the transfer description. 

Unique PayID – Multiple Banks

When you want to have more than one bank account with the same bank, you will be given different bank account numbers. If you decide to open a bank account with a new bank, you will be given a new bank account number, and the (Bank-State-Branch) BSB will also change based on your bank.

You don’t have to create multiple PayIDs, although you can if you want to. You can use the same PayID at different banks, making it easy for you to remember it. 

Online Scams

Some of my mates have been scammed in recent years. What happened? They transferred money out of their bank account to finally find out it was a scam and then realised that they were not likely to get their money back. While banks have taken steps to reduce online fraud, there are still a lot of loopholes.

I’ve found that PayID helps to prevent this because before you process a transfer to a PayID, you will see the exact name of the person you are sending funds to. This way, a scammer cannot hide behind a real PayID, and as a result, the chances of you getting scammed are lower.

Can I use PayID to make deposits and withdrawals at casino sites?

If you want a short answer, it is going to be both yes and no and I’ll share my views and let you know what exactly I mean!

Contact customer support

You can get in touch with live chat support to check if PayID is accepted. If your chat agent is professional and friendly, you will get clear information on whether PayID is accepted, processing timeframes and processing charges – if any. However, I’ve come across a lot of live chat support agents who would not give out any information on payment methods or give incorrect info.

Some of them said PayID was accepted at the casino, but when I signed up, I found out it was not on offer. Alternatively, there have been times when I was told PayID is not one of the payment options, but when I signed up, I learned that I could actually use it. 

Register casino account 

This method is the best way to determine whether an online gaming site accepts PayID. This way, you can do the work yourself and check if PayID is one of the payment options at the online gambling site you are browsing. If you cannot find payment info, then go ahead and register an account and check if PayID is among the accepted payment methods. Registering an account at an online casino can usually be done in under 5 minutes, and you don’t have to enter a lot of info. I personally prefer this option. 

When PayID is accepted, you will be able to process both deposits and withdrawals. Most online casino venues do not charge extra fees to process PayID transactions, but bear in mind that this is based solely on the discretion of each iGaming site.

The deposits at all PayID online casinos are instant, while withdrawals are usually completed within a couple of hours or on the same day. Some online casinos might take more than 24 hours to verify your withdrawal request and process your PayID payment – so do check processing times at the online gaming site to be certain when you can expect your winnings to show up.

• You must know your bank account details, including your net banking login details or mobile app login details.
• Login to your net banking or mobile banking app to start creating your PayID.
• The process might vary a little based on each banking platform or mobile app. 
• For CommBank – I logged into net banking and then opened Settings from the main menu.
• Go to the Payment Settings and select PayID.
• Once you do this, choose the type of PayID you want to register for.
• You will need to pick between a phone number and an email.
• Select your option and then follow the prompts.
• You will then need to confirm your PayID info along with your email or phone number.
• A NetCode will be sent to your phone – enter the code to generate the confirmation email. 
• Make a note of your PayID and use it when required.
